|THE WOODS SEEN FROM THE KITCHEN AT NIGHT, 2007
Behind the house where I grew up, there was several hundred acres of thick wooded forest. On summer nights, I would sit under the dim fluorescent lights in the kitchen and stare out into the blackness. With the fall of night, the same woods where I spent my days exploring and playing took on a great ominous sentience. When I found out that they were going to be destroyed to put in a subdivision, I felt a profound and personal sadness. This is a 3-D topographical map of those woods. The dim greenish fluorescents beneath the land mass and the orange incandescents above it provide just enough light to read its features.
