Inspired by Paul Auster’s short story by the same name, I made a small maquette of an apartment as it might look from a key or spy hole. Auster’s title comes from a genre of detective fiction in which a crime is committed under seemingly impossible circumstances. I wanted to convey this sense of paranoia without actually showing anything other than the plain details of the room, to give the impression of a crime without divulging any clues.
