Seconds before Faustus signs his soul over to Satan, God makes one last desperate plea. The exhortation, Homo Fuge (Flee Man-lat.) appears scratched in blood on Faustus’ arm. Faustus trembles at the omen, speculates deeply on its meaning and finding none, goes ahead and signs the contract.
